Troops of the Joint Task Force South-East, under “Operation UDO KA,” have successfully neutralized 13 armed members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and arrested three kidnappers in the region. Lt.-Col. Jonah Unuakhalu, the task force spokesperson, reported this achievement on Monday, emphasizing the operation’s goal of ensuring safety and peace in the South-East during the yuletide season.

Unuakhalu urged citizens to support the task force by providing timely and credible information to help secure the region. He stressed that security is a collective responsibility, calling on the public to report suspicious activities through the JTF's toll-free line.

Details of the operations showed that on December 21, Sector 1 troops ambushed kidnappers along the Amouka-Umouka Road in Enugu, neutralizing one and recovering significant items, including an AK-47 rifle, two magazines, and N8,900. Additionally, Sector 5 troops carried out a clearance operation on December 16 in Anambra, neutralizing three IPOB members and destroying key hideouts.

On December 14, troops arrested three suspected kidnappers in Abia State after receiving intelligence from the public. The suspects, operating in a stolen tricycle, were apprehended, and a variety of weapons, including rifles and ammunition, were recovered during the operation.
