The Kaduna State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Sadiq Mamman Lagos, has hit back at former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, asserting that only God, not El-Rufai, will decide the outcome of the 2027 elections.
Mamman Lagos also condemned El-Rufai’s comments against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani, advising him to steer clear of Kaduna politics.
His remarks come amid a strong endorsement of President Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani for a second term by 255 councilors in Kaduna State.
"El-Rufai Has No Monopoly Over Kaduna Politics"
Speaking to journalists, Mamman Lagos set the record straight, stressing that Governor Uba Sani has been focused on governance and has not interfered in political distractions:
🔹 "Governor Uba Sani never interfered with the previous administration. He was focused on lawmaking and working with his constituents to improve lives."
🔹 "El-Rufai does not have the monopoly to make or break individuals politically."
🔹 "The electorate, not El-Rufai, will decide the outcome of the next election."
"Governor Uba Sani Has Reversed El-Rufai’s Anti-Masses Policies"
Mamman Lagos highlighted Uba Sani’s achievements, emphasizing that he has corrected unpopular policies imposed by the El-Rufai administration:
✅ Restored properties confiscated or demolished under El-Rufai’s tenure.
✅ Reversed the high tuition fees introduced by El-Rufai, making education more affordable.
✅ Reinstated traditional rulers who were deposed under El-Rufai.
✅ Launched massive infrastructural projects across all three senatorial zones.
✅ Rebuilt trust in the APC government, ensuring inclusivity rather than governance for only a select few.
Kaduna Councillors: "No Vacancy in Aso Rock, No Vacancy in Kaduna Government House"
Meanwhile, all 255 local government councilors in Kaduna have fully endorsed President Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani for re-election in 2027.
Speaking on behalf of the councillors, Muhammad Sani Badiko declared:
"There is no vacancy in Aso Rock or Sir Kashim Ibrahim House in 2027. Governor Uba Sani has delivered massive infrastructural development never seen before in the history of Kaduna State."
Call for Unity and 2031 Succession Talks
The councilors also called on political actors to shelve their ambitions until 2031, urging them to support Governor Uba Sani’s ongoing economic recovery, education, and healthcare reforms.
El-Rufai’s Influence in Kaduna Politics Waning?
This latest development signals a growing rift between El-Rufai and the current Kaduna leadership. While the former governor was once a political kingmaker, the current administration appears determined to move beyond his influence.
With the 2027 elections still years away, the battle for Kaduna’s political dominance is just beginning.
