Kano APC Dismisses Kwankwaso’s Claims of Reducing Votes in 2027

The Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed former governor Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso’s claim that he would drastically reduce the party’s votes in the state during the 2027 elections. APC Chairman Abdullahi Abbas described Kwankwaso’s remarks as “laughable,” urging him to focus on reclaiming his position within the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), from which he was reportedly expelled.

Abbas accused Kwankwaso of being a "political refugee" and relying on Governor Abba Yusuf to maintain relevance. He labeled Kwankwaso’s confidence in defeating the APC as "wishful thinking," assuring supporters that the party remains the preferred choice in Kano. Abbas also alleged that the NNPP’s performance in 2023 was due to “manipulated votes” and warned against such practices in future elections.

In response to Kwankwaso’s claims, Abbas argued that Kwankwaso’s political moves were driven by ego and a failure to align with progressive ideals. “Kwankwaso has been rejected by every party he joined, including the NNPP, and is now a wanderer in the political landscape,” Abbas said, adding that the APC is determined to reclaim Kano State in 2027.

Kwankwaso, however, remains confident in his political influence. During a meeting with stakeholders from Tsanyawa Local Government Area, he highlighted the NNPP’s success in sidelining the PDP in the 2023 elections, claiming the APC would face a similar fate. He also announced the defection of former councillors and aides from the Ganduje administration to his camp, signaling his commitment to reshaping Kano’s political dynamics.
