Kano APC Endorses Governor Yusuf for Second Term Ahead of 2027 Election

Governor Abba Yusuf has officially submitted his nomination form to contest the 2027 governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC)⁠� in Kano State.

The governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa, disclosed this in a statement shared on Facebook on Friday.

Yusuf was accompanied during the submission by prominent political figures from the state, including former Kano governor Ibrahim Shekarau, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Senator Kawu Sumaila, members of the House of Representatives, and other APC stakeholders.

Speaking to journalists shortly after submitting the form at Treasure Suites, the governor described his decision to seek a second term as a renewed commitment to serving the people of Kano State.

According to him, his administration plans to expand urban renewal projects across the state, with greater focus on road construction, drainage systems, and market modernisation.

Yusuf also said rural development would remain a top priority, promising more investments in feeder roads, healthcare centres, schools, and water supply projects in rural communities.

The governor pledged stronger support for agriculture and youth empowerment programmes, noting that job creation and youth development would continue to be central to his administration’s agenda.

He further reaffirmed his commitment to improving education and healthcare delivery, while stressing the importance of unity, peace, and inclusive leadership in governance.

Yusuf said his administration would continue aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to attract more federal projects and opportunities to Kano State.

He also thanked residents of the state for their continued support and confidence in his leadership, assuring them of transparent governance and people-focused development.

Governor Yusuf defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP)⁠� to the APC in January 2026 following internal crises within the party. His defection was accompanied by several lawmakers and local government chairmen from the state.

Following the move, Kano APC stakeholders unanimously endorsed him as the party’s sole governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 election.
