Naira Set to Soar as Dollar Declines, Says VP Shettima

Vice President Kashim Shettima expressed confidence in the Naira's performance at the forex market, anticipating further appreciation as the dollar weakens. Speaking during a courtesy visit by a delegation from the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Shettima praised the Tinubu administration's decision to end fuel subsidy and unify the exchange rate, citing it as crucial for addressing economic challenges.

The Vice President highlighted the leadership prowess of President Tinubu, especially in laying the foundation for Lagos State's remarkable development. He assured that the government is committed to resolving power sector challenges and creating job opportunities for youths, emphasizing President Tinubu's dedication to transforming Nigeria.

Shettima assured the LCCI delegation of the government's support for innovation in addressing security issues, enhancing credit access, stimulating investment, and promoting entrepreneurship. He welcomed suggestions for targeted interventions, such as concessional lending facilities and interest rate subsidies, tailored to the needs of SMEs and key sectors like agriculture and manufacturing.

In a separate meeting with the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), Vice President Shettima called for peaceful coexistence among Nigerians, emphasizing the importance of tolerance and unity. He encouraged the association to submit its request for land in Abuja through the appropriate channels for follow-up with relevant authorities.
