The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, has lost his bid to secure the All Progressives Congress ticket for the Keffi/Karu/Kokona Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Jatau was defeated by Hon. Daniel Ogazi in the APC House of Representatives primary election conducted across the constituency.
According to the results announced on Sunday in Lafia, the state capital, Ogazi secured 13,083 votes to emerge winner, while the Speaker polled 5,873 votes. Another aspirant, Abdulaziz Danladi, scored 1,067 votes.
The primaries also saw two serving members of the House of Representatives lose their return tickets.
The affected lawmakers are Mohammed Abdulmumini Ari, representing Nasarawa/Toto Federal Constituency, and Jeremiah Umaru, representing Akwanga/Nasarawa Eggon/Wamba Federal Constituency.
Declaring the results, Chairman of the APC National Assembly Primary Elections Committee, Musa Shuaibu Guri, described the exercise as peaceful, free, fair and credible across the 13 local government areas of the state.
He stated that the elections were conducted in line with the Constitution, the Electoral Act and the party’s guidelines.

In the Nasarawa/Toto Federal Constituency contest, Mohammed Al-Bashir emerged victorious with 31,796 votes, defeating Ari Abdulmumini Mohammed, who scored 9,039 votes. Other contestants included Dr Ahmed Wada Ikaka, who polled 1,888 votes, and Abdullahi Jibril with 3,728 votes.
For the Akwanga/Nasarawa Eggon/Wamba Federal Constituency, Tony Bala Shammah won the ticket with 38,333 votes, while the incumbent lawmaker, Jeremiah Umaru, secured 4,061 votes.
Meanwhile, former Nasarawa State Governor, Mohammed Al-Makura, emerged as the APC candidate for Lafia/Obi Federal Constituency through a consensus arrangement after his rival, Isaac Ali Kigbu, withdrew from the race.
Al-Makura received 45,000 affirmation votes during the exercise.
Guri added that the result for Awe/Doma/Keana Federal Constituency was still being collated and would be announced later.
He urged all aspirants to remain united and work together for the success of the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
