Nigeria Reaffirms Commitment to Stronger Ties with Côte d’Ivoire on Independence Day

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic relations with Côte d’Ivoire in the shared quest for peace, stability, and prosperity in the West African region.

Tuggar made this known in a congratulatory message to his Ivorian counterpart, Kacou Houadja Léon Adom, on the occasion of Côte d’Ivoire’s Independence Anniversary.

In a statement issued by the Ministry’s Spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the Minister conveyed Nigeria’s goodwill and praised the enduring friendship between both nations.

“On this momentous occasion, Nigeria joins the Government and People of Côte d’Ivoire in celebrating the enduring spirit, unity and achievements of the Ivorian people,” the statement read.

“This significant day serves as a reminder of the shared history, mutual respect, and longstanding ties of brotherhood between our two nations.”

Ambassador Tuggar lauded the cordial diplomatic relations and productive cooperation that have marked the relationship over the years.

He further emphasized Nigeria’s readiness to deepen bilateral engagement for the collective benefit of both countries and the West African subregion.

“We remain committed to strengthening these bonds in the pursuit of peace, stability and prosperity — especially in the West African region and beyond.”

Nigeria extended warm wishes to the Ivorian government and citizens, praying for sustained unity, peace, and development, while reaffirming its enduring friendship and support.
