Troops of the I Division Nigerian Army have neutralized a terrorist and recovered arms and ammunition during a clearance operation in Kaduna State. The operation, which took place on August 25, 2024, targeted the general areas of Sabon Birni, Dogon Dawa, Maidaro, Ngede Alpha, and Rafin Kaji.

In a statement issued by Lt.-Col. The troops overpowered the terrorists, neutralizing one, while others fled with suspected gunshot injuries.

The operation led to the recovery of four AK-47 magazines—three of which were fully loaded with 60 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition—and one empty magazine. Additionally, a PKT belt with 86 rounds of ammunition, two motorcycles (one of which was destroyed), a Techno mobile phone, a Baofeng handheld radio, and an Airtel recharge card worth N5,000 were seized.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of I Division and Commander of "Operation WHIRL PUNCH," Maj.-Gen. Mayirenso Saraso, commended the troops for their successful operation. He urged them to intensify their efforts in making life unbearable for terrorists, insurgents, and their collaborators within the Division's Area of Responsibility.

Maj.-Gen. Saraso also expressed his appreciation to the residents of Kaduna, Kano, Niger, and Jigawa States for their ongoing cooperation. He encouraged them to continue providing actionable intelligence through the Division's Toll-Free Line, 0800 002 0204, to assist in ongoing security operations.
