Ogun Police Confirm Abduction of Three Family Members in Ijebu Ode

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of three members of a family by suspected gunmen at Ipojo Golden Estate in Oke-Eri, Ijebu Ode area of the state.

The incident reportedly happened around 7pm on Monday when about 15 armed men stormed the community, causing panic among residents.

Confirming the attack, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said tactical and intelligence operations had already been activated to rescue the victims and track down those responsible.

According to him, the command remains committed to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.

Residents and family members said the gunmen arrived with sophisticated weapons and invaded the family’s residence before abducting three people.

During the attack, a woman was reportedly shot while the kidnappers escaped into a nearby forest with the victims.

Sources within the community disclosed that the head of the family, who works as a government employee, was not at home when the incident occurred.

A community leader identified as Mr Kehinde described the attack as shocking, noting that the area had always been considered peaceful.

He appealed to the government and security agencies to improve security across the community and ensure the safe return of the abducted victims.

Also speaking, the head of the Badewa family in Ijebu Ode, Mr Yesiru Badewa, said the victims included two women and a man.

He expressed concern over the condition of one of the abducted women, who was reportedly ill before the attack.

“We are deeply worried because one of the women is sick, and the hardship in captivity may worsen her condition,” he said.

Badewa called on the Ogun State Government and security agencies to intensify efforts toward rescuing the victims.

The latest attack comes amid growing concerns over insecurity and kidnapping activities in parts of Ogun State, especially within communities across Ijebuland.

Recently, fish farmers in the region raised alarm over increasing abductions by armed criminals and appealed to Governor Dapo Abiodun and the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, to strengthen security in the area.

The farmers referenced the abduction of fish farmer Adams Omamegbe and four women at Alayo Fish Farm Cluster in Odogbolu Local Government Area, alleging that the victims regained freedom only after a ransom of N70m was paid.
