The Chairman of the Ondo State People's Democratic Party (PDP) primary election committee, Bayelsa State Deputy Governor Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, has assured the party's seven aspirants of a fair, free, and credible election. Ewhrudjakpo made this commitment while speaking to the press in Akure before the commencement of the primary election, noting that the aspirants are in high spirits and have pledged to work together regardless of the outcome.
Ewhrudjakpo explained that the party is following the indirect primaries method, as provided for in the Electoral Act of 2022. He stated that the election will involve about 627 delegates, and all preparations, including accreditation, are underway. The chairman expressed confidence in a transparent process, emphasizing the aspirants' commitment to unity post-election.
The deputy governor highlighted the party's ultimate goal of reclaiming power from the APC, which has held sway in the state for the past eight years. He reiterated the importance of conducting a free, fair, and credible election, assuring that the process will be transparent and devoid of rancor. Ewhrudjakpo also drew from his experience in conducting successful primaries in Osun State, expressing optimism about the PDP's chances in Ondo State.
