Oyo Police Detain Officers Involved in Student’s Death at Ogbomoso Club

The Oyo State Police Command has announced the apprehension and detention of officers involved in the alleged killing of a student, Damilola Iyanda, at a club in Ogbomoso. The incident, which also left two others injured, reportedly occurred during a confrontation with suspected student cultists.

According to the command's spokesman, Adewale Osifeso, the officers involved in the shooting have been detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Adebola Hamzat, has ordered the Homicide Department to take up the investigation.

The statement clarified that the police received a distress call from the director of the club, reporting harassment by suspected cultists. Upon arrival, the situation escalated, and shots were allegedly fired from different angles, resulting in the death of Damilola and the injury of his brother, who has since been discharged from the hospital.

Osifeso assured the public, particularly the student community, of swift justice in the case. He emphasized that all operatives involved in the incident, including Inspector Rasheed Saheed, are under detention pending the outcome of the investigation.
