Adolphus Wabara, the chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has highlighted the need for the party to reposition itself ahead of the 2027 elections, despite the challenges it currently faces. Speaking at the PDP BoT meeting on Thursday, Wabara stressed the importance of unity and resilience in achieving the party's goal of taking over power in the upcoming elections.
The 77th meeting of the PDP BOT, held in preparation for the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting later in the day, was attended by key party members including Senator Ahmed Makarfi, Amb. Umar Damagum, Sen. Samuel Anyanwu, Abba Moro, Hon Kingsley Ogundu Chinda, and Bala Mohammed, among others.
Senator Wabara, expressing gratitude for his election as BOT chairman, described the meeting as an opportunity for the party's conscience to reflect on its current state and provide guidance to its leaders and members. He emphasized the urgent need for the party to address internal challenges and unite to effectively lead the charge against the ruling All-Progressives Congress (APC).
Wabara also addressed the leadership crisis within the party, noting the prolonged tenure of the acting Chairman and the unresolved issue of the National Secretary's office, which has caused internal strife. He called for a transparent and fair resolution of these issues in accordance with the party's constitution to ensure the party's unity and effectiveness.
Looking ahead, Senator Wabara highlighted the upcoming congresses at various levels as an opportunity for the party to rejuvenate and reposition itself. He urged party members to embrace change, foster unity, and work towards a brighter future for the PDP and the nation as a whole.
