A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party aligned with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has unveiled its timetable and schedule of activities ahead of the 2026/2027 general elections, including nomination guidelines and internal party processes.

The announcement was made on Monday via the party’s official X handle and signed by the faction’s Organising Secretary of the Interim National Working Committee, Theophilus Dakas.

According to the schedule, presidential aspirants will pay N100 million for nomination forms, while governorship aspirants will pay N40 million. Senate, House of Representatives, and State Assembly aspirants will pay N10 million, N7 million, and N2 million respectively.

As part of its inclusivity policy, the faction said female aspirants will only pay for expression of interest forms, while youths and persons with disabilities will enjoy a 50 per cent discount on nomination fees.

The timetable shows that activities will begin on May 4, 2026, with formal notification to state chapters. Sale of forms will run from May 5 to May 13, 2026, covering all elective positions.

Screening of aspirants is scheduled to hold in phases, beginning with State Assembly hopefuls on May 15, followed by House of Representatives and Senate aspirants on May 16, while governorship and presidential aspirants will be screened on May 18, 2026.

A special national convention for ratification of candidates has been fixed for May 30, 2026, while submission of names to the Independent National Electoral Commission is expected between June and July 2026.

Campaign activities are slated to begin in August 2026 for presidential and National Assembly candidates, and September 2026 for governorship and state assembly candidates, with campaigns expected to end in early 2027.

The development comes shortly after the faction ratified a 13-member caretaker committee led by Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Tanimu Turaki, during its 103rd National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja.

The move highlights the ongoing internal divisions within the PDP, as another faction backed by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike is also conducting parallel party activities, including its own sale of nomination forms.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has meanwhile fixed the 2027 general elections for January 16 (presidential and National Assembly) and February 6 (governorship and state assemblies), with party primaries expected to run between April and May 2026.
