Plateau Police Restore Normalcy After Jos-Bukuru Violence

The Plateau State Police Command has restored order in the Jos-Bukuru metropolis following a violent attack on officials of the Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMDB) by hoodlums. The incident resulted in the death of one person and significant property damage.

The attack occurred when the JMDB Taskforce, responsible for regulating buildings and vehicular traffic under the greater Jos master plan, was executing state government orders in Bukuru, Jos South Local Government Area. The hoodlums attacked the taskforce, setting six cars ablaze and damaging several others.

Efforts by security personnel to disperse the attackers were unsuccessful, leading one officer to fire a warning shot. Tragically, this shot resulted in the death of Nasiru Abubakar, a local trader.

Upon receiving the report, Plateau State Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbemiga Adesina, visited the scene to assess the situation and directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations to deploy additional policemen to restore peace.

In a statement, CP Adesina expressed the command's sadness over the attack on the JMDB Taskforce and reassured the public of the police's commitment to maintaining law and order. Extensive patrols and increased security surveillance have been instituted within the Jos-Bukuru metropolis to prevent further incidents.
