The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 38-year-old man, Mubarak Bello of Kofar Yamma Quarters, Kurfi Local Government Area, for unlawful possession of firearms and impersonation.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday in Katsina.
According to him, the arrest was made on September 13, 2025, at about 2:30 a.m. during a routine patrol by operatives from the command’s department of operations.
“The team, acting on heightened vigilance and proactive policing strategies, intercepted a Toyota Corolla, ash in colour, with registration number Lagos GGE 473 BH, driven by the suspect. Upon questioning, Bello could not provide a satisfactory account of himself or the vehicle, which prompted an immediate search,” the statement read.
Items recovered from the vehicle included:
One locally fabricated rifle
Four live cartridges
Two expended cartridges
A fake police identity card
An extra plate number (Kano FGE 68)
The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue to uncover the circumstances surrounding the recovered exhibits.
