Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested two suspected electric cable vandals in Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area, following a joint operation with local vigilante members.
The command's spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed in a statement on Saturday that the suspects were apprehended on June 25 after security operatives acted on credible intelligence that some individuals were vandalising electric cables along the Ibabu–Ugiliamai Road.
According to the police, the suspects attempted to flee when they noticed the security team approaching. However, they were chased and arrested during the operation.

One of the suspects sustained injuries while trying to escape and is currently receiving treatment in hospital, while the second suspect remains in police custody.
The suspects were identified as 28-year-old Osakwe Sunday and 34-year-old Ekene Obocha.
Police also recovered the vandalised electric cables, which have been kept as exhibits for investigation.
Reacting to the arrests, the Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, warned criminals against vandalising public infrastructure, stressing that the command would continue to track down and prosecute anyone involved in such activities.
He also appealed to residents to continue supporting the police by providing useful and timely information that would help prevent crime and protect public assets.
