The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has commenced investigations into the discovery of a lifeless body inside a vehicle at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.

Reports suggested the deceased, identified as 55-year-old Gaddafi Iwar, was a construction worker engaged at one of the project sites within the complex. His body was found in a red Peugeot 406 with registration number BWR-577 BF, which had reportedly been parked in the same spot for several days before the discovery on Sunday, September 7, around 9:00 a.m.

The Police Public Relations Officer for the Command, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday, noting that operatives from the National Assembly Division responded immediately to a distress call.

“Upon arrival, officers discovered the deceased inside the vehicle. The body was evacuated to the Asokoro General Hospital, where medical staff confirmed that it was already in an advanced state of decomposition,” Adeh said.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao Adewale, has ordered a discreet probe into the circumstances surrounding the incident and directed investigators to intensify efforts to confirm the deceased’s identity.

This incident comes barely days after the police launched another investigation into the suspected suicide of a 30-year-old man, Ik Ojo, in the Kagini–Dei-Dei area of Abuja, which also sparked suspicions of foul play among residents.

Adeh assured that further details would be provided as the investigation progresses.
