Troops Kill 109 Criminals, Rescue 43 Kidnap Victims in Nationwide Operations

Troops conducting nationwide operations have killed 109 criminals and arrested 81 suspects in the past week, according to the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj-Gen Edward Buba. Additionally, six oil thieves were apprehended, and 43 kidnap victims were rescued.

 

In the Niger Delta region, the troops destroyed 10 illegal refining sites, 10 crude oil cooking ovens, 12 boats, and four storage tanks. They also seized 631,709 litres of stolen crude oil, 3,140 litres of illegally refined diesel, and 2,250 litres of petrol, alongside other items like pumping machines, speedboats, motorcycles, and vehicles.

 

The operations also led to the recovery of 21 assorted weapons, including nine AK47 rifles, five fabricated rifles, and 124 rounds of assorted ammunition. Communication equipment, such as baofeng radios, and vehicles used by the criminals, were also seized.

 

Maj-Gen Buba emphasized the sustained effectiveness of the armed forces, assuring Nigerians of continued incremental improvements in security and operational success across the country.
