Troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) have successfully rescued 49 kidnapped victims and recovered approximately N2 million in ransom from criminals operating in Plateau and Kaduna States between January 24 and March 12, 2025.

The military operations, aimed at combating criminal activities in the region, also led to the recovery of numerous firearms, including 7 AK-47 rifles, 6 fabricated rifles, and 3 pistols, alongside 222 different types of ammunition.

A statement from the Media Information officer of OPSH, Major Samson Zhakom, highlighted that during the 45-day operation, 17 criminals, including kidnappers and bandits, were neutralized, while 17 other suspects were arrested on charges of gunrunning, kidnapping, banditry, and militia activities. The troops also managed to recover 151 cows, 64 sheep, and 3 rams from cattle rustlers.

Additionally, mobile phones and motorcycles were seized from the criminals. Zhakom affirmed the troops' commitment to eradicating non-state actors and stabilizing the region for the benefit of law-abiding citizens.

All arrested suspects, along with the recovered weapons and items, are now in custody for further action.
