Ojora Family Announces Death of Patriarch, Otunba Adekunle Ojora, at 93

The Ojora family of Lagos has announced the passing of its patriarch, Otunba Adekunle Ojora, the Olori Omo Oba of Lagos, who died in the early hours of Wednesday at the age of 93.

In a statement issued by the family and signed by Mrs Toyin Ojora-Saraki, it was disclosed that the respected elder statesman passed away “in full submission to the will of Almighty Allah (SWT).” The family added that he will be laid to rest in Lagos in accordance with Islamic rites.

“We say Alhamdulilahi for a life well lived, and we comply with Allah’s words: ‘Surely, to Allah we belong, and to Him we will all return’ (Q2:156),” the statement read.

The late Otunba Ojora is survived by his wife, Erelu Ojuolape Ojora, as well as his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Born in 1932, Ojora began his professional journey as a journalist with the BBC in the early 1950s. He later joined the United Africa Company in 1962 as an executive and went on to serve as chairman of the board of AGIP Nigeria Limited from 1971 until its acquisition by Unipetrol in 2002.

During the 1970s, he also invested in several foreign companies operating in Nigeria, playing a notable role in the growth and development of private enterprise in the country.

The family called on members of the public to remember the late patriarch in their prayers, asking Allah to grant him forgiveness, peace in the grave and a place in Aljannah Firdaus.
