Nigerian music star and former P-Square member, Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has caused a stir on social media after revealing that he is changing his birthday date.
In a brief post on Monday via his official X handle, the singer simply wrote: “I am officially changing my birthday date.” He did not give any explanation for the decision, leaving fans and followers speculating about his motive.
The announcement quickly triggered reactions online, with many users questioning whether it was symbolic, personal, or part of a larger statement.
Peter Okoye rose to fame as one-half of the iconic music duo P-Square alongside his twin brother, Paul Okoye (Rudeboy). The pair dominated the African music scene in the 2000s and early 2010s with several hit songs before internal disagreements led to their split.
Their fallout, which became public around 2015, was largely linked to management and financial disputes involving their elder brother, Jude Okoye, who once handled their affairs. The disagreements deepened over time, touching on issues of royalties, creative control, and family involvement in their business structure.

By 2017, P-Square officially broke up, with both brothers pursuing solo careers. Peter adopted the stage name Mr P, while Paul continued as Rudeboy.
In 2021, fans were excited when the twins reconciled after years of separation, leading to joint appearances and new music releases. However, despite the reunion, reports of lingering tensions and disagreements over business arrangements later resurfaced.
Peter has since occasionally spoken publicly about past issues surrounding their music catalogue and management structure, keeping the family’s professional history in the spotlight.
For now, his latest announcement has added another layer of curiosity around the music star, even as fans await further clarification.
