The Nigeria Police Force has successfully rescued all 18 passengers abducted during the April 15, 2026, attack on a Benue Links bus in Otukpo.
Initial efforts had led to the rescue of five victims, while the remaining 13 were freed in a follow-up, intelligence-led operation carried out across the Amla Forest corridor and nearby areas.
In a statement released on Monday, Force spokesperson, Anthony Placid, confirmed that all passengers involved in the incident have now been accounted for. Among those rescued were eight students who were on their way to write the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
According to him, the victims have undergone medical checks, are in stable condition, and will be reunited with their families after necessary debriefing.
The police also disclosed that seven suspects were arrested during the operation, with three already identified as members of the kidnapping syndicate. Investigations are ongoing to track down other accomplices and dismantle the wider criminal network behind the attack.
