Carter Efe Outclasses Portable in Lagos Celebrity Boxing Showdown

Street-pop artiste Habeeb “Portable” Badmus suffered his first defeat in celebrity boxing on Friday night after being outboxed by social media comedian Carter Efe at the Chaos in the Ring 4 event held at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

After three rounds of action, all three judges scored the bout 27–30 in favour of Carter Efe, handing him a unanimous decision victory and ending Portable’s unbeaten run in celebrity boxing.

Portable, known for his energy and confidence in the ring, came into the fight boasting of his previous wins over Charles Okocha and Speed Darlington, where he had claimed two celebrity belts. Ahead of Friday’s bout, he was full of confidence.

“I will use you to collect my third belt. Charles Okocha was bigger than you, Speed Darlington was bigger than you, and I beat them. I will beat you now,” he had said before the fight.

But Carter Efe was unfazed, replying simply, “One punch and you fall.”

When the fight began, Portable started aggressively, throwing fast but wild punches. However, Efe stayed composed, using his reach advantage to control distance and land cleaner shots, including sharp uppercuts and body punches that gradually slowed the singer down.

In the second round, Portable continued with his trademark high-energy style, but his lack of accuracy left openings for Efe, who capitalised with more structured combinations and better ring control. By the third round, the pattern remained the same, with Efe landing the more effective punches while avoiding unnecessary exchanges.

At the final bell, the judges’ decision confirmed what the fight had shown — Carter Efe was in full control throughout, earning a clear and decisive win.

The victory marks a major moment in the growing celebrity boxing scene in Nigeria, with Carter Efe now emerging as the new face to beat, while Portable walks away with his first setback in the ring.
