“I Was Robbed” — Portable Cries Foul After Loss to Carter Efe in Celebrity Boxing Match

Afrobeats singer Habeeb Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has reacted angrily after losing his celebrity boxing match against skit maker Carter Efe, insisting that the result was unfair and calling for a review of the bout.

In a live Instagram video shortly after the fight on Saturday morning, Portable alleged that he was robbed of victory, claiming the judging and officiating did not reflect what happened inside the ring.

“I was robbed. Carter Efe was not professional enough. He was strangling with his long hands and height. I threw him many punches, why didn’t you people count them? Any blow that I threw to him ought to count even if it meets him on the shoulder or hand,” he said.

He further accused the organisers of bias and demanded payment for what he described as his “stream money,” putting the figure at about N200 million.

“And to the organisers, I want my stream money amounting to about N200 million. Just give me my money before I cause trouble. They did ojoro for me. All of you are mad,” he added.

Portable insisted that Carter Efe’s height and reach gave him an unfair advantage and should not have been allowed in the match.

“They knew he is tall and has long hands but still put him in a boxing match with me,” he said.

Despite his disappointment, the singer said the defeat did not affect him emotionally, stressing that his family mattered more than any boxing title.

“You can only buy a belt with money, but a child cannot be bought. My wife just gave birth to a bouncing baby boy. I value that more than a belt,” he said.

Portable’s reaction came after Carter Efe defeated him by unanimous decision at the Chaos in the Ring 4 event held at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

All three judges scored the bout 27–30 in favour of Carter Efe, ending Portable’s run as celebrity boxing champion.

Before the fight, Portable had been confident of victory, promising to win a third belt after previous wins over Charles Okocha and Speed Darlington.

“I will use you to collect my third belt,” he had said before the bout.

Carter Efe, however, responded calmly before the fight, saying, “One punch and you fall.”

Inside the ring, the comedian lived up to his words, using his reach advantage to control the fight and land cleaner, more effective punches across all three rounds, securing a clear victory.
