A former Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu Gwarzo, has resigned from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing shifting political dynamics and the need to realign his ambitions.
In a resignation letter dated May 1, 2026, and addressed to the party’s chairman in Gwarzo Local Government Area, Gwarzo said his decision takes immediate effect.
He explained that the move followed careful reflection and consultations with political allies, supporters, and stakeholders across Kano State.
According to him, recent developments within the political space made it necessary to reconsider his position and chart a new path that better reflects his vision for governance and development.

Gwarzo noted that his decision was driven by what he described as patriotic reasons, as well as a desire to pursue ideals centred on good governance, democratic values, and sustainable progress.
Despite his exit, he expressed appreciation to the party’s leadership and members for the support and cooperation he received during his time in the ADC.
While he did not reveal his next political destination, his resignation comes at a time of growing political realignments across the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.
