India Condemns UAE Drone Strike, Calls for Safe Oil Routes

India has strongly condemned a drone attack on an energy facility in Fujairah, which left three Indian nationals injured. The incident has heightened concerns over regional security and the stability of global energy supply routes.

In a statement on Tuesday, India’s Ministry of External Affairs called for an immediate halt to hostilities, stressing the need to protect civilian infrastructure and innocent lives. Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal urged all parties to prioritise peace and de-escalation.

The United Arab Emirates has blamed Iran for carrying out the attack. However, Iranian state media denied any prior plan to target oil facilities in the UAE, further complicating an already tense situation in the region.

India also emphasised the importance of maintaining uninterrupted access to the Strait of Hormuz—a critical channel through which nearly half of India’s crude oil imports pass. Any disruption to this route could have serious implications for the country’s energy security and economy.

As the world’s third-largest oil importer, India remains highly vulnerable to fluctuations in global oil supply, especially amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East. Officials say the country is closely monitoring developments and stands ready to support diplomatic efforts aimed at restoring stability.

In recent months, India has been adjusting its energy strategy by diversifying supply sources, including increasing imports from long-standing partners like Russia, as it navigates the uncertainties triggered by the regional conflict.
