The Nigerian military has described notorious terrorist commander Bello Turji as a "dead man walking" following his threats to attack communities in Zamfara State unless his arrested associates are released.
Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, made this statement during a media briefing, emphasizing the military's unrelenting commitment to eradicating terrorism in the region. "From January to 31st December 2024, over 1,000 terrorist leaders, commanders, and their replacements have been neutralized. Bello Turji will share the same fate," Buba affirmed.
Dismissing Turji's threats, Buba stated, "Before him, other terrorists boasted of dealing with security forces, but today, they are no more. We assure Nigerians that similar actions are underway to eliminate Turji and others like him."
Addressing skepticism about the military's precision bombing of Lakurawa terrorist enclaves on Christmas Day, Buba urged Nigerians to disregard what he termed as "terrorist propaganda." He added, "The first casualty of war is the truth. Terrorists and their collaborators often spread falsehoods to mislead the public. But we remain resolute, having destroyed their ammunition and logistics dumps."
Buba reiterated the military's dedication to Nigeria's security, calling for public trust in the armed forces. "This is a Nigerian war for Nigerians," he concluded, underscoring the importance of unity in combating terrorism.
